I don't know what class to attend come spring! I have to take a language class of some sort..and I have narrowed it down to four possibilities.
ENG2158 Translation II
Pros:
- home exam
- piece of cake
- could be relevant if I chose not to work with education
Cons:
- BORING
- BORING
- not enough of a challenge?
ENG2159 Accents of English in the British Isles
Pros:
- interesting
- not something that is well known to me
- beneficial for the understanding of social and lingual aspects of British culture
- done much of the same thing in Norwegian
- well-known lecturer
Cons:
- phonetics was never my favourite
- maybe not too relevant for work within the educational system
- narrow subject, considering the fact that I'm in Norway
ENG2160 Language and Settlement in England, ca. 400-1200 A.D.
Pros:
- have read some about Roman and Viking Britain before
- history is always interesting
- language AND social history in one
- somewhat relevant due to the Norwegian Vikings
- term paper, not a written school exam
- it just seems interesting
Cons:
- small time frame
- relevance
ENG2156 History of the English Language
Pros:
- probably one of the more relevant subjects
- relevant for work within the educational system
- can possibly be compared to Norwegian language history in some way
Cons:
- doesn't seem all too interesting
- very broad topic
I have no idea
Uni starts on 17 August, and I'm a bit bleh about it....would be better if I didn't have the damn retake to sit through (and read myself through, ohgodthehorror) in December. But, I'll manage. Just have to cut down on work a little bit...and actually read what I am supposed to read and go to lectures and stuff. And maybe try to stop procrastinating like a mofo. ilu IB for training me well ♥
Also, getting back on a normal sleep schedule will be a complete bitch; today I went to sleep at 3:30am and woke up at 1pm. Sounds good, no?
I crave chips :(
Autumn term will look like this:
Monday
1015-1200: American Literature seminar
1415-1500: American Civilisation lecture
1415-1600: Shakespeare
1615-1700: American Civilisation seminar
Friday
1115-1200: American Literature lecture
My lecture in am.civ. collides with my lecture on Shakespeare, unfortunately...but if the seminars in am.civ. are more frequent and seminar-ish than they were in brit.civ. I should be alright anyway.
Exams
1 December: American Literature (4 hours)
2 December: Shakespeare (4 hours)
9 December: Scandinavian Literature 1800-2000 (retake, 6 hours)
16 December: American Civilisation (4 hours)
I might also be taking a history subject, but I might postpone that due to me having to retake the literature exam. Will see, will see.
I migrate southward to Sandvika. This is a new trend. I like it ♥
2. Vinderen called me, and I am working there tomorrow
3. Sandvika called me and wanted me to work there tonight, but only for two hours or so
4. It's raining. Liek whoa
I just got home from a slightly prolonged visit to Sandvika. A couple of hours turned into two days. Whoops. I like Sandvika.
On a totally different note, I went to Fretex today.

- floral empire waist sundress (69,-)
- black brocadeish skirt with white print and stones (69,-)
I do not mind nice things for cheap, yo.
(I actually went to Fretex yesterday as well, but to a different store. I got a black bag for 89,- but I won't show it until I find out what to do with it. I also went to IKEA and got me a lamp for like 140,- and a nifty curtain. Hurrah.)
Someone needs to teach me how to interpret male behaviour, because I totally do not understand whether this guy is flirting with me or not...
Last night I went to Rock In and discussed Exodus with some dude who was envious of me seeing them live. It was nice. And the cute guy with long hair on last.fm sent me a message. I can like this, I think. Going to sleep at 4am is always a winner, especially after being up since 6:30 :]
I think that was the best gig I have been to, at least audience-wise...and they played almost everything I hoped for, even though I didn't get there until halfway through their show. The setlist included
They were all fun and games, with a audience popquiz (which was hilarious) and a new version of musical chairs (musical floor; "everyone who doesn't sit down when the music stops has to buy a shirt and then leave, capiche?). They made fun of state officials and themselves and Oslo and everything. And I got me a t-shirt! It looks like a Motörhead t-shirt, only with Ibsen with saberteeth. Aaaaaahahaaaaawesome.

You scored evenly on Earth and Air.
You more than likely go back and forth between abstract thoughts and being practical and efficient. When you are focused you can blend both your practical self and your idealistic self and create a harmonious and beautiful balance in your life. You are a thiking person with good common sense behind you, which is great! But you also have a tendancy to be logical and detach yourself, which would give you the ability to do well with facts and figures without being overwhelmed by details. You don't succomb much to stress or stressful situations. You are also not prone to becoming overly emotional.
